What is Dermaplaning?

January 22, 2020

Do you have unwanted hair on your face? Is that little annoying peach fuzz bothering you? Well then dermaplaning is the perfect skin treatment for you.

What is it?

Dermaplaning is a type of skin treatment that estheticians do to remove vellus hair (aka peach fuzz) and dead skin cells from your face. This is done with a sterile blade that resembles a scalpel. Don't worry, we know that sounds scary. But, it's not when done by a licensed esthetician with the correct tool. This treatment is very safe and effective for most skin types. There is no downtime after dermaplaning.

What are the benefits?

This treatment gets rid of the unwanted hair on your face, while also giving you a gentle exfoliation. It also removes the dead skin cells and leaves your skin feeling and looking smooth and polished. This treatment is perfect for those who want to have younger-looking skin.

What should you expect during and after?

When you come in to get your treatment, you will lie down on the bed. Holly will wash your face and make sure the skin is clean. Then, she will use a sterile tool to scrape off the hair and dead skin cells from your face. It feels like a credit card being brushed along your face. After all of the hair is removed, Holly will put a hydrating mask on your face. While that is on, she will give you a neck massage. Once the mask is done, she will remove it and clean your skin. Holly will then add some moisturizer and sunscreen to your face. Then you are all done. It is very painless and the only side-effect some people experience is their skin being a little pink afterwards.
