Acne Awareness Month

June 11, 2019

Since June is National Acne Awareness month, we thought we would share a few causes of acne, types of acne and treatments for it. We know you would rather ignore it and hope people don't notice, because who loves acne. But, if you know the cause and treatment options, you might be able to get rid of it. That's something to celebrate right?!

Did you know that over 50 million Americans, men and women, suffer from acne and it is the most common skin condition in the U.S., according to American Academy of Dermatology. So, you are not alone.

Acne can be caused by quite a number of things...

-Hormones, especially in teenagers

-Prescription medicines

-Hair & skin products

-Detergents

-Food-dairy and other foods your body may be sensitive to

-Stress

-Genes

-Heat or excessive sweating

There are 6 common types of acne...

-whiteheads

-blackheads

-Papules

-Postules

-Cysts

-Nodules

If you are suffering from acne and go see your doctor, they may prescribe you Accutane, or something like it. But, there are side effects with taking that too. According to WebMD, the most common side effects of taking Accutane are..."Dry lips and mouth, minor swelling of the eyelids or lips, crusty skin, nosebleeds, upset stomach, or thinning of hair may occur." WOW! No thank you.

The good news is there is a better way. We have found that Face Reality Skincare products, if used as directed, along with chemical peels and facials monthly, can clear most acne within 3-6 months. We have used this combination with so many of our clients and seen amazing results.
